There are only two genders: male and female.
That’s it, just those two.
Men and women. Boys and girls. Dudes and chicks.
Other than rare isolated cases where an extra X or Y chromosome may be present, it’s either one or the other; not fluid or on a spectrum, gender is binary:
binary: relating to or consisting of two things, in which everything is either one thing or the other.
And it certainly isn’t merely a social construct or something that’s arbitrarily assigned to us by a medical professional when we’re born.
Contrary to popular opinion, gender is embedded in our DNA and was determined at the moment we were conceived.
Why is this so important, such a critical distinction?!
Because to think and argue otherwise cuts to the very core of two hugely significant issues: truth and identity.
And since Satan hates God and everything He creates — and he knows his time is running out — he’s ramping up his assault on us to an all-time high.
Truth
When we place feelings over facts under the guise of progressivism and its obsession with tolerance and inclusion what we’re left with is a “truth” that’s based on one’s personal opinion, individual perspective, and internal emotions.
And that is NOT how truth works.
It’s not your truth and my truth, his truth and her truth, their truth and our truth; it can’t be, because that would make it subjective.
truth: the body of real things, events, and facts; conformity with fact or reality.
Since truth is based on facts and reality we can’t have multiple “truths” about something that conflict with and contradict each other.
By definition, that’s simply not possible when dealing with actual truth because truth isn’t emotive or elusive; it’s stable, immovable, and absolute.
Truth is objective.
Does that mean one’s feelings aren’t valid or important, or that he or she should be shamed and ridiculed — even hated and harmed — because of them?!
Of course not.
But it does mean that just because you might feel a certain way doesn’t make that feeling truth or that your perspective should be viewed as and considered to be truth.
It’s nothing personal, but to paraphrase a line from Ben Shapiro — facts don’t really care about our feelings.
Identity
Who we are is a pretty good indicator of what we’ll do in life, and what we do generally has a lot to do with who we are and how we’re wired — the two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Teams have positions, movies and plays have roles, bodies have parts, and with each position, role, and part a different purpose is served and a specific function is performed with respect to the whole.
And people really aren’t any different.
Each of us has strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, talents and abilities, and so one that make us unique; those things make us who we are and they’re there for a reason.
Simply put: Function follows form.
We’re made the way we are because we each have a part to play, a role to fill, and a job to do here in this life in the short time we’re given.
And gender is a significant part of all that.
God’s Design
Men and women are inherently different — there’s no denying that — and that’s a good thing.
There are certain things women in general are wired to do instinctively better than men, and vice versa; neither is superior, more important, or of higher value and worth — just different— and we need each other because we need each other’s differences.
What’s so amazing is those differences are there by design, and they’re complementary.
The polarizing effect between the masculine and the feminine is a beautiful dynamic as they complement each other perfectly. What the masculine lacks, the feminine makes up for. And what the feminine lacks, the masculine makes up for.
That may ruffle some feathers, but when gender is perceived otherwise — as though it were fluid and left up to each individual to decide, thus deeming it to be irrelevant — chaos and confusion ensue:
- Middle and high school girls have to share restrooms/locker rooms with biological boys.
- Female athletes in high school and college lose to — and have scholarships taken from them by — biological males (who weren’t good enough to compete with other males).
- World class female athletes have records and bones broken by biological males who compete as females (again, because they couldn’t keep up with their male counterparts).
- Businesses and individuals are sued for simply mis-gendering someone based on his or her perceived gender/gender identity.
- Hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgeries are defended and celebrated in children aged 12-17 under the guise of gender affirming care.
And dear friends, none of that is even remotely ok.
Neither is the alarmingly high number of suicide attempts among and violent assaults committed by transgender teens in particular, though it’s no surprise…
Life is difficult enough to navigate as we try to figure out who we are and where we fit. Imagine, then, the pressure one must feel when the idea that gender — that thing at the very core of who we are as individuals — is presented as uncertain, undefined, nothing more than a social construct, AND up to us to decide.
That is NOT how it’s supposed to be.
In the Old Testament book of Psalms, King David said that God had formed his inward parts and that He knit him together in his mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
David’s assessment of this?! I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14
How, then, could one’s gender be up for debate or a mistake?! (Hint: It can’t.)
And in the book of Genesis we find the story of creation where we read that in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27)
Which brings us to the reason for society’s current obsession with gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
The Assault
In the introduction to this series I explained how I view everything through a particular set of lenses:
- The primary lens is the fact that the Bible is God’s written word to us, and as such is inerrant, infallible, and absolute truth.
- The secondary lens is that Satan — the current ruler of this world — is not only a liar and a deceiver, but he’s also our archnemesis and he’s out to destroy us.
Since God’s original design was two genders distinctly different from each other — and yet completely compatible and complementary, — it makes perfect sense that our adversary the devil who hates God and His creation would do everything in his power to undermine it all by any means necessary.
Especially when we consider the first directive God gave the two He originallycreated when He told them to be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. (Genesis 1:28)
As simple as the birds and the bees and the basics of high school biology, men and women are also different because they need to be so they can come together in the act of procreation.
You can’t be fruitful and multiply when you’re with the same gender, don’t know what gender you are or which one you prefer, or try and change your gender chemically and surgically thereby making yourself infertile.
Remember: Whatever God decrees and creates, Satan questions, contradicts, and hates.
In no way do I mean any condemnation or disrespect to those who are dealing with gender confusion/dysphoria or same-sex attraction; I can’t imagine what that must be like.
What I’m referring to here is the LGBTQ+ movement as a whole and the intentional, orchestrated, relentless push of it by progressives in every aspect of our lives and at every level — particularly on Children, and including within the church.
When we know God’s original intent and design, along with His expectations of us to die to ourselves — to deny ourselves and pick up our crosses daily if we wish to follow and serve him — there’s no question from where the deception behind the movement that boldly calls itself Pride comes.
Truth isn’t subjective, it’s objective, and this whole gender thing really isn’t that complicated or complex…
There are only two genders; just two.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope. — Winston Churchill
Methinks the time has come for us to add one more word to Churchill’s list: gender.
